The goal of this blog is to help people build a blog about their favorite hobby and use their passion to build an income online.
This will not be a guide to getting rich quick. It took me hours of hard work and thousands of cups of coffee, so if you’re looking for some quick cash by the end of the month or to quit your day job tomorrow, you should probably keep looking.
At first, your blog might just bring in enough money to buy more coffee. However, after months (yes, months!) it can turn into a solid stream of money to supplement your day job income and maybe even lead to your quitting your day job to focus strictly on making money online.
If you already have a blog, I can show you how to increase your traffic. I show you how to build in-bound traffic links that the search engines love and catchy content that will attract readers from social media.
I hope you join me on this ride. I’m still learning every day, but I think I have a lot to share to help others make money while enjoying their favorite hobby.
The short version: My name is Mike Crimmins and I’m the highly caffeinated blogger behind Daily Shot Of Coffee.
The long version: It all started back in 2002 when I created my first online sites. I saw all these other people making money online and I wanted to do it too. I created dozens and dozens of sites, but I really didn’t have anything to show for it until I started using WordPress in 2005. Since then, I’ve probably created hundreds of blogs, although most of those are defunct now.
Through that tangled multitude of blogs, I was making a couple thousand dollars a month, but didn’t really see any success until I started Daily Shot Of Coffee. I am not a full time blogger, I have a great day job, but I have found a way to make money with one of my favorite hobbies. Plus, I get more free coffee than one person should ever drink and have a kitchen full of coffee equipment that companies sent to me to review.
The majority of the other blogs that I started before Daily Shot Of Coffee were to make money, often about topics that I had zero interest in. Daily Shot Of Coffee was different because I am a coffee addict and built up the blog completely around one of my favorite hobbies. I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t hoping to make some money out of it, but if I hadn’t loved the topic so much, I would’ve given up on it a few months into it, like I did with so many other blogs.
I’ve been featured on Robb Sutton’s 30 Most Influential Bloggers And Website Owners Of 2010 and included in David Risley’s list of 4 Bloggers Doing It Right.
Non-blog related, I’m a thirty-something resident of Tampa, Florida. I moved down here from Chicago a couple years ago and grew up in New York. I don’t miss the snow at all. When I’m not blogging, I’m most likely watching the Yankees on TV or riding my mountain bike. Besides coffee, my other favorite beverage is craft beer. Watch out, I might be doing “research” for a craft beer blog and launching it in 2011.
